Covid-19 Efforts

Supporting Women Through Challenging Times

COVID-19 has caused Uncommon Threads to modify services to ensure the safety of our clients, staff and volunteers. However, we remain committed to strengthening low-income women by offering virtual styling sessions, on-line empowerment programming, and access to emergency clothing.

“Threads to Go” is our new contactless styling service that provides our clients with a virtual boutique experience.  With the guidance of an Uncommon Threads personal stylist, clients will receive curated outfits to suit their needs and lifestyle. This service is available to women of all ages who are referred by a partner agency.

Threads to Go Services

When a woman feels strong and confident, she can move forward.

Self-Esteem Styling

Our philosophy is that all women deserve to feel worthy, strong, and beautiful. As part of our outside-in/inside-out approach to building self-confidence, clients receive a personal styling session and up to four complete outfits, including shoes and accessories. They may return for additional sessions as a need arises and with an agency referral.

Session goals:

  • Increase self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Reduce negative self-messaging, encourage self-love and acceptance, and counteract body image issues
  • Decrease the feeling of isolation
  • Level the playing field by providing low-income women with high-quality and properly fitting clothing for every-day interactions

Workforce Styling

Uncommon Threads is offering virtual styling sessions for low-income women who are actively seeking employment or currently working.

During the session, clients are coached on how to dress to project a positive image, educated on their most flattering styles and colors, and taught how to mix and match pieces to maximize their work wardrobe. They receive four high-quality outfits, complete with shoes and accessories, and may return for additional services as the need arises.

Emergency Clothing

Uncommon Threads is helping the wider community by providing an emergency clothing service for those affected by a natural disaster, homelessness, fire, domestic violence, or other circumstances. Clients receive pre-selected clothes, shoes and personal care products to address immediate needs.
