Shop and Swap — to benefit Uncommon Threads

Mark your calendar and get your ticket for a fabulously fun girls’ night out! Don’t miss Shop & Swap — an accessory swap and shopping party to benefit Uncommon Threads, an empowerment boutique.

Tickets are $20 and include admission plus light bites.

How it works:

  • Before the swap: Bring your new or gently worn handbags, jewelry, scarves,wraps/ponchos and small leather goods to Uncommon Threads (visit the website for directions to the boutique) on Wednesday May 31st from 9:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. OR Thursday June 1st from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. to the Bell Tower Function space at 60 Island St. Lawrence (go in the door by the cafe into the function room).
  • All jewelry should be individually bagged (baggies or Ziplocs work great). For instance each pair of earrings, each necklace, each bracelet, etc. will need to be in its own clear bag.

  • All items must be in-style and in excellent condition–no stains, rips, broken jewelry etc.

  • For every accepted item you bring, you get a swap. For example, if you bring 10 items you can leave with any 10 items. You will receive a ticket with the number of swaps during the drop-off times.

  • If you find more items than what you brought, you can purchase additional swaps for just $5 each! Yes, you could purchase a designer piece for only $5!

  • Bring your girlfriends, sisters, or daughters—you’ll have a blast while supporting women in need.

  • Let’s go green! Bring your own bag to take home your new treasures.

  • All unswapped items will be donated to Uncommon Threads.

In addition to swapping, there will be plenty of fabulous shopping! Uncommon Threads will be featuring a “boutique table” chock full of designer pieces at AMAZING prices. We will also have lots of local vendors for even more shopping!

This is the perfect time to de-clutter your closets, drawers, and jewelry chest… and trade in the old for new!

Tickets are limited in number, so get yours early!

* Admission tickets are non-refundable.

We’re off and blogging …

This is the first official blog post for Uncommon Threads. We are not your average clothing program. Uncommon Threads uses clothes and image as tools to boost women’s self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth. Our clients, who are referred by social workers, receive a private styling session with one of our “volunteer stylists”, where they will learn their best styles and colors and get advice on how to dress to project a positive image. Each client receives four complete outfits suitable for their lifestyle. Our goal is for them to leave the boutique feeling empowered, nurtured, beautiful and confident.

Uncommon Threads has big plans for the future including self-esteem workshops and mentoring. Stay tuned for more news and updates on upcoming events from the organization.
